Game Mom? Take the Team Some Energizing Snacks.

Being a game mom is tough. Not only do you have to drive the kids to practice all week, Saturday rolls around and all of a sudden you’ve got to make snacks, too? It’s easier than you think to come up with wholesome, energizing snacks for the team and the best news? You won’t have to spend all Friday night doing it.

Here’s what you should take to the game this weekend:

Balsamic Berry Cups
Fruit for energy and vinegar for digestion? Win-win! Mix together chopped strawberries and fresh blueberries then place in separate disposable 1-cup containers. Drizzle each cup with about 1 tsp. syrupy balsamic vinegar.

Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs
Eggs are nature’s perfect protein. In a large saucepan full of water, place one egg for each player. Add 1 Tbsp. table salt and ¼ cup distilled white vinegar and bring to a gentle boil. Cook for 14 minutes exactly, then remove and cool. The salt and vinegar make these eggs the easiest-ever to peel.

Tomato Mozz Skewers
Who says snacks can’t be refined? Skewer grape tomatoes and small mozzarella balls, alternating, on wooden skewers. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and don’t forget to provide hand wipes to clean up after snacktime!

Custom Trail Mix
The best part of this snack? Raid your own pantry! In snack-sized plastic baggies combine nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans), dried fruit (cranberries, cherries, apricots), and milk chocolate chips. Each kid gets their own pouch to munch on throughout the game.

Hummus Cups
Slice several vegetables into dip-ready sticks: carrots, celery, cucumber, and peppers work well. In the bottom of a clear plastic disposable cup place ¼ cup store-bought hummus. Stick a handful of vegetable spears in each cup then top with cling film.

Ants on a Log
Your kids may not know them, but you remember them from childhood. Fill celery sticks with a smear of peanut butter (or use sun butter if someone on the team has a peanut allergy) then top with golden raisins for an interesting twist. Dried fruit provides instant sugar energy and nut butters have protein!

Team mom of the year! It doesn’t take a private chef to come up with something fun for snack time, and your kids are just looking for something tasty that won’t weigh them down.
